Coventry Friday,,15 August 1755 (Gloucester Journal) Joseph Wright and Thomas Grimes for sodomy. (may be a single charge or two separate cases).

On Friday 15 August 1755 about 1pm Joseph Wright and Thomas Grimes were executed on Whitley Common near Derby for the detestable crime of sodomy. They both behaved penitent but when in the cart denied the crime for which they suffered.

Joseph Wright denied his intention of killing or committing sodomy with Mr Warner of Winhall of which he was found guilty.
